Have you been on the diet treadmill, caught in a cycle of “emotional eating” – both over-eating and under-eating? This eight-week series is for people who are ready to take a deep look at their feelings, experiences and choices around eating. It is not a magic pill diet or “weight loss” exercise class but the beginning of a process of understanding what motivates us in relationship to food.
Yoga and Ayurveda have a lot to say about food, eating and digestion. Our diet is considered the foundation on which we build the rest of our practices. Yet for many of us, we have developed an unhealthy relationship to food and eating thus, ourselves. Our sense of hunger, satisfaction and nourishment have become disconnected from our actual bodily sensations and our self-image and self-worth get tangled up it in all.
We will use yoga movement and breathing exercises, mindfulness exercises, meditation, and Ayurvedic information to explore our food-related patterns with the goal of being more aware, not just of the habits, but of the feelings that drive them. Everyone will receive a take-home practice to do daily while not in class.
This is challenging, life changing work! Join us.
